By now, you know Marissa's story.
At 12-years-old she was diagnosed with lymphoma. She received her treatment at BC Children's Hospital and the care she needed to make a full recovery.
I wish I could tell you Marissa's story is unique. Kids shouldn't have to cope with something as terrifying and potentially deadly as cancer. But the truth is almost three children are diagnosed with cancer every week in BC.
Like Marissa, each of those kids will receive the care and treatment they need right here at our hospital. They'll have access to the latest research and could even benefit from one of the projects or clinical trials going on right now. Even as I write, 600 kids with cancer are in clinical trials at BC Children's Hospital.
